Johannesburg,
June 10, 2019 – The award
winning Rapper, Mawat, of Mollo fame is back at it. Increasingly getting known
as Mr Yellow because of his signature yellow costumes, the rapper has announced
the release of a new single titled DIAL UP.
The new ghetto soundtrack DIAL UP is Mawat’s latest single growing
in popularity across GP, KZN and Limpopo townships. The catchy song boosts with an organ led backtrack, made-for-dancing
hip-hop drum patterns, a hectic bassline as well as a hypnotic call and
response hook: “Hey wena, bathini, zikhiphani, eskhaleni” which is Mawat’s way
of engaging with the audience of the song before he instructs them to turn up
while singing along to: “Dial Up, God”.
“We intentionally gave the single to targeted township DJs and
tastemakers as we needed to be sure that the sound resonated with the people
before we invested on the song”, his Business Manager Andile Nkosi
commented. “And based on the sing-alongs
during performances, the formula is working, people just love: Dial Up”. He
added.
As part of the release, a scrap yard set music video shot and directed by Calvin Merci will hit the telly on the 25th of June 2019. In DIAL UP, the lyrically clean rapper Mawat, traps his fans with a simple easy to follow flow and pop-culture influenced lyrics which covers Papa Penny, Steve Jobs, Bob Mabena, BMW and even the classic arcade game Street Fighter to mention a few. If you are young at heart, loves to dance and in to the now, then DIAL UP is made for you. Join the movement hashtag: #DialUp and press play.
